I promised to share recipes with you. I’ve decided to begin, by opening up the breakfast bar menu. Yes, we are going to drink! I’m inviting you to experiment with something colourful, fresh and sweet. My beautiful Beet & Berry Smoothie.
Along with being a captivating crimson colour, beets are loaded with an antioxidant called betalain. They are an excellent source of potassium, vitamin A as well as a good source of vitamin C. Don’t neglect the leaves of this vegetable as they can also be eaten raw or cooked and are rich in another powerful antioxidant; carotenoids.
Did you know that in Roman times, beets were considered an aphrodisiac? One thing I know for sure, is that I am passionate about how delicious they taste in a smoothie.
Smoothies are a perfect choice for breakfast on-the-go or just as a snack. The best part, in my opinion, is when we mix vegetables and fruits in smoothies. It’s an explosion of flavours. Bon Appétit!

This recipe will yield 3 cups.
Do you think this Beet & Berry Smoothie makes a balanced breakfast?
Answer: A balanced breakfast requires 3 of the 4 food groups.
The Beet & Berry Smoothie contains 2 food groups:
1) The fruits and vegetables group 2) The milk and alternative group.
To create a complete and balanced breakfast, just add some natural almond butter or grab a handful of nuts and voilà!
Warning: Due to their considerable amount of vitamin K, individuals who take regularly a coagulant medication need to limit their beet consumption (125 ml (½ cup) of raw beets or 60 ml (¼ cup) of cooked beets. This warning is intended to prevent changes in blood levels of vitamin K.Read More

Abundance, green luscious trees, never-ending rivers, mountains, farm fresh produce and that welcoming laid-back feel. Quebec and the rest of Canada are brimming with beauty but I will reserve that for another post. For me Stowe has that “je ne sais quoi” and just knows how to do it right.Read More
